Korean is spoken by 74 million settlers in North and South Korea. Australia has a lot of trade and immigration with South Korea. The Korean alphabet is known Hangeul that has 14 consonants and 10 vowels which were ordered by their leader of the time King Sejong. The Hangeul vowel shapes are based on three features: man – vertical, earth – horizontal, and heaven – dot. Korean has many dissimilarities in linguistics from English and other languages as well as their culture. Korean culture has become very popular commonly with its food, music, and TV dramas.
There are several dialects in Korean, but the customary Korean is the same as the one being spoken around Korea. The Pyongyang dialects are spoken in some of the Korean northern places. However, numerous ethnic groups cannot speak native Korean language due to different cultural adaptation of different countries.
Korea’s rapid development in automobile, mining, armaments, shipbuilding, and construction is often a need for the translation of documents. A small number of Koreans arrived in Australia during the 1920s. A few came to Australia for study purposes. Korean War aftermath made them adopted by Australian families. In the late 1960s, the moderation of restrictions on the admission of non-Europeans, made the Korean population increased. Each year in the 1970s, about 1,000 Korean students arrived in Australia for a short-term stay for study and school purposes and a long-term stay for residence purposes. In the 1991 Australian census, the Korean-born population has reached 1,400 each year and turned into 38, 840 settlers in the 2001 Australian Census.
